Chasing the Mega Mothership
September 18, 2008 on 9:28 am | In Monsterpocalypse |Once the game releases on October 10th, one of the first promotional giveaways you will be able to acquire will be the Mega Ares Mothership. If you send in 24 booster tops along with the receipts for those boosters (which have to be purchased from a real “Brick and Mortar” game store), then we will send a free Mega Ares Mothership to the game store of your choosing where it will wait for you to pick up.
Now you may have a couple of questions like: “Why 24 boosters?” Well I will tell you! 24 boosters is the magic number of boosters you will need to purchase in order to acquire a complete set of Monsterpocalypse. If you buy a case of 12 Monster Boosters, you should pull one of each monster along with their hyper forms. If you purchase a case of 12 Unit Boosters, you should have the following number of units and buildings (separated by rarity):
• One of each of the 12 “★★★” rarity units.
• One of each of the 10 “★★” rarity units with two duplicates.
• One of each of the 14 “★” rarity units with 10 duplicates.
• One of each of the nine buildings, with three duplicates (but you would also have 12 buildings total, which means that you would have a full compliment of buildings for playing).
Thus with the purchase of those 24 boosters you should have a complete set of Monsterpocalypse figures. The Mega Ares Mothership is not only a thank you from Privateer Press but also a badge of honor that notes that you are a serious collector who can assemble a force to be reckoned with.
Note that you could send in any combination of Unit and Monster Boosters. Some players may wish to build up a collection of their units and buildings allowing them to assemble a more refined force; two cases of Unit Boosters would allow for a pretty awesome force selection. You can send in any combination of Monster and Unit Boosters that you want to get your free Mega Ares Mothership, however buying 24 Monster boosters would be odd…
Now you might also be asking: “Why do I have to buy them from my local Brick and Mortar game store, and why do I have to pick it up from my local game store? Can’t you just send it to me?” Privateer Press believes that fostering strong relationships between you and your local game store is important, and we want you to take the extra time to get to know your local game store. As I have mentioned before, the Brick and Mortar game stores are the backbone of the adventure game industry (meaning those games that are not played using a digital device). Without a local game store, many players will not have a place to play, and without a place to play the games there is no reason to buy the games. Therefore, it would be nice when you pick up your free Mega Ares Mothership if you buy some dice or maybe another Unit Booster or something. Those game stores are important and every purchase that you make from them helps.
