We Have a Winner!
November 24, 2009 on 3:59 pm | In Monsterpocalypse | No CommentsWe had many submissions for our spontaneous Monsterpocalypse Cross-Faction contest. After having reviewed countless submissions, I narrowed our list down to one lucky winner. His victory is a testament not only to his force building skills, but also to his craftiness. I had to make some hard choices to separate the wheat from the chaff, but I powered through and chose our winner:
Congratulations to Justin Zuccollo of Lake Zurish, IL!
Let’s take a look at that list!
Monster
Tyrranix morphers, Ultra Tyrranix
Units
3 Bellowers
1 Bellower Elite
1 Pteradactix
1 Spikodon
1 Spikasaur
1 Green Fury Van Elite
1 Airborne Ape Elite
1 Cthulabite
1 UCI MRV
1 Fire Kami
1 Power Pod
1 Explodohawk
1 Nautilus Blaster
Buildings
1 Privateer Press
2 Newspaper Offices
1 Mt. Terra
1 Insurance Company HQ
1 Statue of Liberty
1 Radar Array
5 Bank Headquarters
As you can see, Justin recruited units from eight factions to make his list, and he included a nice diversity of buildings along with those five banks. This guy obviously plays to win. Among my favorite things in this list was the plethora of actions at this list’s disposal, including Tow, R&D, Extinguish, Ignite, and Repair. A healthy range of blast triggers also appealed to me, among them Explosion, Chain Reaction, Radial Attack, Multi-Shot, and Power Gorge. Furthermore, a lot of red abilities are shared among the factional figures, which never hurts.
The combination of blast triggers such as Explosion and Multi-Shot will certainly suppress the opponent’s units, as each blast attack threatens to take out multiple units with one attack. The vast amount of boost dice will provide those units with the boost dice they need to pose a threat against the opponent’s monster when not focusing their attacks on units. With the UCI MRV and the Green Fury Van providing healing abilities and the Power Pod collecting additional power dice with Amplify, it seems that Justin has all his corners covered.
So again, congratulations, Justin! I will be putting something special in the mail for you this week.
On a side note, after nearly two years with Privateer Press, I will be moving on. It’s been a great ride, but there is an undeniable calling by the Lord to return to my hometown, and it’s about time I answer that call. Following my departure DC, Michael and/or Will will be talking over this blog, bringing you all the Monsterpocalypse news you need to know. I look forward to the future releases and development of Monsterpocalyse as well as all of Privateer Press’ other properties for many years to come. Privateer is standing on firm legs, and like you, I will be enjoying their releases for a long time.
Those wishing to keep up on my whereabouts can find me via my website, (erikyaple.com).
Here’s hoping all your dice roll super strikes!
